Overview
Varicose veins are a condition affecting the circulatory system, in which veins are no longer able to effectively return blood to the heart. This can lead to the appearance of enlarged, twisted veins that are bluish or purplish in colour. In addition to their aesthetic impact, varicose veins may be associated with various symptoms such as pain, discomfort, leg heaviness, swelling, and itching.
At CLINICARE, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy treatments are offered by physicians with training in phlebology, in accordance with current medical standards.

Sclerotherapy
Overview
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves injecting a solution in varicose veins, in order to cause the diseased vein to close.

Objective
Sclerotherapy is used to help manage symptoms associated with venous disease. It may contribute to slowing the progression of varicose veins, reducing discomfort, and improving the appearance of the legs, when clinically appropriate.
Technique
The first step involves assessing the extent of venous disease through an ultrasound examination performed by a physician with additional training in phlebology. Based on the results, the physician can recommend a treatment plan tailored to your condition.
If necessary, deeper varicose veins may be treated using ultrasound-guided injections. Treating these deeper veins is often important, as they may contribute to the development of more superficial varicosities, which can later be addressed with visual-guided injections.
In most cases, patients are able to return to their regular activities shortly after treatment.
Results
The number of sessions may vary from one patient to another, but clinical improvement is generally observed after three to four sclerotherapy treatments. Regular medical follow-ups and yearly treatment of new varicose veins can help support better management of venous disease and more sustained symptom relief over time.
